Semi-transparent Parachute-textures V2
======================================

Another "tinkering" job from me, hehe

I spent the texture just another Alphachannel.

A simple question about the right colour at the sim-outhouse forum turned out, there are quite a few professional jumpers there.
so just for info soem replies:

Yes, the nylon in the parachute's canopy is translucent, but it vairies with the perocity (density) of the material.
The current MC-1B and SF-1 chutes are not nearly as translucent as the older chutes.
Tactical chutes (reserves too) are olive drab.
Resupply canopies can be different colors to identify various cargo items as well as to help in finding the darn things in the jungle or forest
although I've also seen them in camoflauge. My beret liner is made from a camo cargo chute.

From "Half a Wing, 3 Engines and a Prayer" by Brain O'Neill -
a B17 crewman described the white American parachutes and the German yellow ones.........

... My impression that WW II chutes were mainly white......

....I remember seeing a report on the History Channel a few weeks back that before the D-Day invasion an effort was made
to convert as many chutes as possible to OD, but many troopers had to jump into Normandy with white ones.

About the "hole" on top:

....I'm not sure if the WW2 parachtes had the aperture...
it makes em more stable and diminishes occilations.....

It is closed again in Version 2 - I have only WW2 pics with closed parachute.

I have included all three versions:

-An OD one (Just the stock with new Alpha)

-A Bleeched white one (For the US - troops)

-A colored yellow one made as "Best guess" (For the Luftwaffe - pilots)

Note : Both pilot models use the same textures for the Chute

You need to renamed the one of your choice to replace the stock ones, which can be found in

CFS2-Root/Models/JA_PILOT/texture

and

CFS2-Root/Models/US_PILOT/texture

For the different paratroopers in different optics:
There is already the trouble about the Japanese pilot appearing even when you pull your virtual pilot out of US planes.

I have played with that, too.

I have installed even a German pilot called

GE_Pilot beside the stock ones:
JA_Pilot and
US_Pilot

I have renamed even everything inside the model etc.

The German one is called GE_Pilot, it even uses GE_prefix textures.

But now this one is appearing everywhere in my game !!???

I had hoped I could steer that with the prefix and the shortcut for Allegiance (GE, US, JA for each country) of the country.cfg and the selection of the country in eachs plane DP file.

But it seems, the game ignores all that and just uses that pilot it finds first, in my case the GE_Pilot, in your Games the JA_Pilot.

If you want to see the US_Pilot, I bet renaming the JA_Pilot to XJA_Pilot will do it.

Further research needed here, but I am at the end of the street right now.

This is made for my own enjoyment and works on my PC - I am just offering it for you to try it out, too

Happy flying (and in this case: Landing)

PS: Just another jumper tip:

Some planes have more than one crew, please give EVERY virtual pilot at least a chance, when shooting up the plane...lol

Add this to your plane`s

AIRCRAFT.cfg file or replace the entry in there - ( many stockers only have one bailout entry )....

[exits]
number_of_exits = 5
exit_rate.0 = 0.4
exit_rate.1 = 0.5
exit_rate.2 = 0.6
exit_rate.3 = 0.7
exit_rate.4 = 0.9

Of course you need to adapt that to the right number of crewmembers....
