In January 1944 the new FuG 220 was introduced, which could not be cheated with Dueppels.
But it was only working at a minimum range of 350m, so the old FuG 202 BC was still used for the last part.
On march 21 he scored his last two kills before being hit and one wing burned.
He ordered his crew to bail out (they survived) and did the same. But he was already too low, his parachute failed and he was killed.

intruder aircraft available and the perceived lack of results.
In November 1941, just a month after the cessation of their long-range intruder missions to England, l/NJG2 was transferred to Catania in Sicily.
